The Certificate IV in Information Technology (General) provides the a range of computer based technical skills and specialised knowledge including determining client needs and business expectations, automating processes, creating feasibility reports and technical documentation, locating equipment, system and software faults, managing simple projects and ethical conduct and practices within the IT industry.

This qualification, is a natural progression from Certificate III in Information Technology (General), and, depending on the specialist elective stream chosen, offers pathways into a number of IT qualifications at Diploma level - particularly Diploma in Information Technology (General) and Diploma in Information Technology (Multimedia).

The Certificate IV in Information Technology (General) has 7 specialist streams (both core and elective) which enable maximum choice and flexibility to suit idustry and enterprise needs. Selection of units from at least 3 of the 7 specialist streams are required to complete this particular qualification, they are:

We suggest that you complete the ICA20105 Certificate II in Information Technology before undertaking this qualification, which will provide you with the fundamentals of ICT knowledge and skills required for qualifications at Certificate III in Information Technology and above. The 9 core competencies found within the Certificate I and II in Information Technology are a pre-requisite of the Certificate III in Information Technology. Alternatively, these 9 core competencies may be incorporated free of charge into the certificate of your choice.
