What is the difference between a skill set and a qualification?

Skill sets are not qualifications they are combinations of units of competency from an endorsed Training Package, which link to an identified industry need.
Skill Sets enable a qualified worker to move laterally into work areas addressed by the skill set, or to broaden their skill base in relation to the services they provide.

Entry Requirements

Participants in this course should possess a Certificate III level qualification or higher, or be able to demonstrate skills and experience at the same level.

Study Options*

This course is delivered face-to-face with small projects to be undertaken on the job. Delivery can be undertaken in the workplace or in a pre-arranged venue.

Payment Options

This course is eligible for funding through the VET Investment Plan (QLD residents only). Eligibility criteria apply. See Payment Options for more information
Eligibility also requires student to be an existing worker in Early Childhood Education and Care who already holds a Certificate III or higher level qualification

Placement Requirements

This course requires completion of at least 240 hours of mandatory Vocational Placement with a provider. This placement will:

  • support transition to the workplace and expectations of performance in the workforce
  • assist you in developing skills and application of knowledge within the workplace, promoting stronger embedding of learning
  • provide exposure to real workplace situations and circumstances which cannot be replicated in a learning environment or simulation.
    Placement is required for the following units, however, it will be aligned with all units to support workplace learning and application:

  • CHCECE007 Develop positive and respectful relationships with children (120 hours)
  • CHCECE017 Foster the holistic development and wellbeing of the child in early childhood (240 hours)

All students will be required to demonstrate these hours, as met or undertake formal placement arrangements to support completion of the skill set.

This skill set has been pre-packaged through industry consultation to provide you with 6 units of competency to develop the skills to further your learning or career. If you are already there, great we have RPL tools and processes to assist you to get recognition for the knowledge and skills you already have. You can expect this course to take up to 3 months to complete.
